Medical Care in Singapore
3 weeks ago, My MIL(Mother-in-Law) was hospitalized for a organ transpant. The operation is carry out in SGH.
2 days after the operation, while she's still in the ICU recuperating, my wife received a call from SGH Business Admin Office, telling her that the medical bill is now $28,000, and urge her to pay up.
We are really surprise, and not pleasant with the encounter. The patient is not even out of danger, nor discharged. We are still have our hearts hanging on the line, worrying about her condition, while we are told to 'pay up' even we had not see any bill.
Like the Terminator, he/she did not stop.... The phone ring almost every day, asking us to make payment, so mechanical, and robotic. Despite whatever we tell the other end of the line, he/she simply replay the message to an extend, I thought it's a voice-recording.
It begins to drive us crazy. Mind you, this is a government hospital, which is suppose to take care of the citizen, and this is the their Core Value you can see at their web site.
"Compassion - valuing and caring for every individual; being sensitive and attentive to their needs in a timely and appropriate manner ".
Totally Fail they had.
